Big outdoor kitchen. Small footprint.
A grill, a bar fridge, a stone top and seats for your people, all on one compact modular island built for Jacksonville-size patios. See it on your patio in 3D before you buy.
A small patio doesn’t need a small kitchen. It needs a smart one: one island that does the cooking, the cold drinks and the seating, instead of a grill cart, a cooler and a folding table fighting for the same corner.
▢
Footprint first
Bar islands like the Aruba 8 put the grill, a bar fridge, storage and bar seating on one compact base. L-shaped and curved layouts tuck into a corner or wrap around the people you’re hosting.
⧉
Modular, not a construction project
Islands are built in Paradise Grills’ own factories and arrive finished. White-glove delivery covers drop-off, setup and up to 6 months of follow-up. Flex Build means you can add appliances later.

Built for Florida weather
Welded aluminum square-tube frames, 1/8" Italian Avellero stone over a honeycomb aluminum core, and 304 stainless. The new siding is a thicker, architectural vertical-lined material that holds up even better outdoors.

A practical checklist for Jacksonville townhomes, condos, lanais and courtyards · about a 4-minute read · More guides in Learn
A small patio can hold a real outdoor kitchen. The trick is planning the space before you fall for a model. Work through these six steps and you’ll know what fits, what’s allowed and what you’ll need behind the scenes.
1. Measure the space you can actually use
Measure the whole patio, then subtract what has to stay clear: door swings, sliding-door tracks, steps, the path to the yard or gate, A/C units, hose bibs and drains. Sketch it on paper with each measurement written down. Then outline the island’s footprint on the ground with painter’s tape or flattened boxes and live with it for a day. Can two people pass behind the cook? Do the stools fit without blocking the door? A tape outline answers in minutes what a brochure can’t.
2. Respect grill clearances
Every grill comes with minimum clearances to combustible materials: to the sides, behind and above. Those numbers come from the grill’s manufacturer, so read the installation manual for the exact model before choosing a spot (Paradise Grills owner manuals are at paradisegrillsdirect.com/owners). On a tight patio, the usual trouble spots are vinyl siding, wood fences and railings, window frames, low soffits, overhangs and patio umbrellas. Put the grill end of the island where it has the most open air, and the bar end where the people go.
3. Covered lanai? Plan for smoke, heat and air
Heat and smoke rise and collect under a roof. If your kitchen will sit under a covered or screened lanai, check the grill manufacturer’s guidance on use under a covered structure, keep the grill toward the most open side, and keep plenty of space between the hood and the ceiling, fans and lights. Never run a gas or charcoal grill in an enclosed space. For a permanent setup under a roof, ask your local building or fire officials and your insurer what they require, and consider an outdoor-rated vent hood.
A real Paradise Grills install under a covered patio. The grill sits along the open side; the bar faces the yard. (This one is a larger L-shaped layout; the same parts come in compact sizes.)*
4. Townhome or condo? Get HOA approval first
Many townhome and condo associations regulate what goes on a patio, and some limit grills or fuel types. Before you order:
Read your declaration, rules and architectural guidelines, and check whether your patio is a “limited common element” the association controls.
Ask whether gas, charcoal or open flames are restricted. If they are, ask whether an electric grill is allowed. The Paradise Grills catalog includes the ESL-24 electric grill.
Submit a clean application: a photo of the patio, the island’s dimensions, a product sheet, the fuel type and a drawing or 3D preview showing placement.
Get the approval in writing before delivery day.
5. Power, water and gas
Paradise Grills islands have a built-in outdoor-rated junction box with a three-prong pigtail, so plan for a properly rated outdoor (GFCI) outlet close by. Have a licensed electrician add or check it rather than relying on an extension cord. A sink needs a water supply and a drain, which is often the hardest part on a condo patio, so decide early whether you really need one. For fuel, choose between a propane tank stored in the island and a natural-gas line run by a licensed gas professional, and check your HOA rules on both.
6. Choose compact appliances that do more
On a small patio, every inch of counter should earn its place. Pick one good grill rather than two, a bar fridge instead of a full-size one, and drawers instead of open shelves. Hybrid X conversions let one grill handle more jobs without taking up more counter. With Flex Build you can start simple and add appliances later.
Bottom line: measure, check the manufacturer’s clearances for your exact grill, and get your HOA’s answer in writing. This guide is general information, not code or legal advice. Local rules and your association’s rules come first.
Mark designs your island in 3D design software, then uses augmented reality on his phone to place it on your actual patio, at real size. You see the fit, the stools and the walkway before you buy.
Send your patio. A photo and rough measurements are plenty to start.
Mark builds it in 3D. Island, layout, grill and siding: black vertical, wood-look or the classic white stucco while it lasts.
